♬Liner Notes♬: Now that the dog and Grammy show’s over, a lot of real new music is coming out with a slew of new releases this week and the crop cream with our five selections right here… Let’s PUTV!

Shearwater
“Quiet Americans”
‘Jet Plane and Oxbow’
Sub Pop, 2016
Notes: “Jet Plane and Oxbow puts Jonathan Meiburg nine albums deep into Shearwater material. Alone, this would be a feat. But couple it with his work writing, studying falcons, Okkervil River, and his time spent with other bands including Okkervil River, and it’s truly astounding that his latest record sounds so vibrant and gripping.

Exmagician
“Job Done”
‘Scan The Blue’
Bella Union, 2016
Notes: “Belfast duo exmagician have always had a knack for layering and disguising sound… Single “Job Done” displays this excellently. A jangling riff and humming organ are draped in soft tones and wrapped in a warm blanket of fuzz while they dance with urgent percussion. A subtle siren that could be either a guitar or a human voice ebbs and rises with the uplifting chorus, distinguishing itself from the sonic haze below.

Wild Nothing
“To Know You”
‘Life Of Pause’
Captured Tracks, 2016
Notes: “Today, dream pop songwriter Jack Tatum, aka Wild Nothing, releases his new album, Life of Pause… the 11-track collection serves as Tatum’s third full-length to date following Nocturne in 2012.
(@WildNothing)

TRAAMS
“Costner”
‘Modern Dancing’
FatCat, 2016
Notes: “The continued existence of excellent garage rock in 2016 can be seen as much as a statement of the artist’s world view as anything, a response to increasingly metronomic, mathematically precise “computer music” – the wall of sound, the imperfections, the shred are all testaments to the power of the human touch… It takes confidence and precision to create the minimalist garage rock of Chichester, England band TRAAMS, a proper musical skill to cut back to the bare drums and bass that give the FatCat Records signees their dynamic sound that borders on pop but never quite crosses over.

Tacocat
“Talk”
‘Lost Time’
Hardly Art, 2016
Notes: “The Powerpuff Girls returns to Cartoon Network later this year, with the theme tune “Who’s Got The Power?” provided by some of Seattle’s finest. Tacocat have shared the opening sequence for the series alongside new single “Talk”. The punk quartet release their third album Lost Time via Hardly Art on 1 April… Tacocat have also announced a handful of UK shows for May…
