Occult Calendar: Beltane Fire Festival

You are not likely to see occult celebrations listed in your local newspaper. The occult calendar enters an active period from April 19 to May 1. Holy Hexes intends to raise awareness of public events associated with these dates. The Beltane festival begins on Walpurgisnacht (April 30) and continues overnight to May 1 or May Day. The pagan roots of festival are receding rapidly in collective memory with fewer bonfires or rounding of a Maypole. A nice portrayal of festival’s roots including author’s memories are provided on Hub Pages, “Beltane means “bright fire”, “shinning fire”, or “white fire” and is known as a fire festival…It is a Gaelic celebration of the mid point between the beginning of spring and the beginning of summer. It was originally celebrated in Ireland, Scotland, and The Isle of Man.” The author makes distinction between paganism and satanism, “pagan is not a sinister word – pagan means country dweller, it does not mean cooker and eater of small children, or Satan worshiper, or a host of other misconceptions.” Beltane, however, is only the second most important date on the Satanic calendar.
