from NHK World: The website of a major Bitcoin exchange in Tokyo say
they have halted all dealings as a security measure. The announcement
came after the exchange went offline on Tuesday.
MtGox was considered one of the world’s largest Bitcoin exchanges,
boasting more than 1.1 million accounts in and outside Japan.
Company officials suspended transfers of Bitcoin on February 7th due to
what they described as a system glitch. They said they were trying to
repair the system, but stopped responding to phone calls or emails after
that. Their website went down on Tuesday afternoon.
MtGox announced early Wednesday that it was halting all dealings for the
time being to protect users. But it offered no indication of when the
system is likely to recover.
