    Nebraska’s 1884 Roswell

    Ranchers John Ellis and Alf Williamson witnessed the crash of an “aerolite” on June 6th, 1884 northwest of Max, NE in Dundy county. In the state’s southwest corner, the county seat is Benkelman. A 2007 Daily Nebraskan article, “Nebraska may have had its own Roswell in 1884,” recounts the cowboys’ eyewitness accounts of this relatively obscure sighting.
